[New Leadpages] Connect your Domain

Last Updated

Custom domains let you serve your Leadpages pages from your own domain (e.g., promo.yourbusiness.com) instead of the default Leadpages URL. This improves brand credibility, SEO, and ad quality scores.

Already have a site published at your domain?

If you already have a website on the domain you want to connect to Leadpages, we would recommend connecting a subdomain using that same root domain. You can still connect your domain to Leadpages, you'll just want to use a subdomain other than www.

Without a subdomain, connecting your domain to Leadpages with an existing site there will result in that site being overridden by Leadpages. Your site would not be deleted, but essentially hidden and inaccessible behind your Leadpages content.

For example, if you have a site published to www.yoursite.com, when connecting your domain to Leadpages, use a custom subdomain like so:

subdomain.yoursite.com

Connect your domain

Our partnership with Entri allows you to connect your custom domain from your domain provider in just a few steps. Entri helps to automate the connection process, making the needed changes to your DNS records. However, if you want to make these changes yourself, you will find manual instructions below.

NOTE: You may be eligible for our one-year free custom domain offer with Entri. Click here to learn more.

Connecting your domain with Entri

To get started, access your Domains menu in your Leadpages account.

  1. From your Dashboard, under Manage, click Custom Domains.

  2. Click Connect Domain

  3. Enter your root domain (i.e. yourdomain.com) or your sub-domain (i.e. www.yourdomain.com, sales.yourdomain.com, leadpages.yourdomain.com, etc.).

  4. Select a target under Points To. You can publish a page, a site, or a blog to your custom domain and select which one in your account with the drop-down. You can also set this later.

  5. Click the Add & Configure Domain button.

  6. A pop-up from Entri will appear to guide you through the automated process. Once you click Continue, Entri will analyze your DNS records with your domain provider. If you have set up domain flattening for a root domain with Cloudflare (or another service), that provider will be the one recognized by Entri.

  7. Select Authorize to provide one-time permission to Entri to connect your domain using the data available from your domain provider. Entri will complete the connection automatically. On the new page, the records that will be added and/or replaced, and click the Authorize button at the bottom of the page.

If you would prefer to manually update your DNS records, you can select Go to manual setup. Open your account with your domain provider in another tab and add the DNS records provided.

  8. You will be directed to either close the tab, or you will automatically redirect back to your Leadpages account. You should see the message, “[Your domain] is now configured!” Click Done.

Your SSL certificate is freely provided by Leadpages and renewed as needed. It can take up to 48 hours for your SSL to propagate. Your pages are always served over HTTPS — no configuration needed.

Manual DNS records

Entri may not provide automatic domain configuration for your domain provider of choice. In that case, you will have to update your DNS records manually so that they point to Leadpages. You will need to add two A records, one CNAME record, and one TXT record:

NOTE: If you are only adding a sub-domain and want to maintain a website on your root domain (for example, you're launching a new webinar on sales.yourdomain.com but want your website to stay at yourdomain.com), then do not add the A records
  • A record #1 to create
    • Host (also called: Name, Hostname, @): @
    • Value (also called: Points to, IP Address): 162.159.142.254

  • A record #2 to create
    • Host (also called: Name, Hostname, @): @
    • Value (also called: Points to, IP Address):  172.66.2.250

  • CNAME record to create
    • Host (also called: Name, Hostname, @): www (or your sub-domain of choice)
    • Value (also called: Points to, IP Address): customers.htmlpub.com

  • TXT record to create
    • Host (also called: Name, Hostname, @): _cf-custom-hostname
    • Value (also called: Points to, IP Address): This value will always be unique. Copy and paste the value provided.

Selecting a domain target

After connecting, you can select your domain to feature:

  • A landing page  — Visitors to your domain see that homepage.
  • A site — All pages in the site are served under your domain.
  • A blog — Your blog posts live on your custom domain.

You can set your target in the Domains menu or in the visual editor of your page, by clicking the … Action menu to the right of the Publish/Update button.

Domain Limits by Plan

  • Grow: 25 custom domains
  • Optimize: 100 custom domains
  • Scale: 250+ custom domains

Troubleshooting

  • Domain shows "Pending": DNS hasn't propagated yet. Wait up to 48 hours for manual DNS changes.
  • SSL not working: SSL certificates are provisioned automatically after DNS is verified. If it's been more than 24 hours, contact support.
  • Domain not resolving: Double-check your CNAME record is correct and there are no conflicting A records.
