[New Leadpages] Version History — Saving & Restoring Pages

Last Updated

Overview

Version History lets you save snapshots of your page at any point in time, preview previous versions, and restore a page to an earlier state. This is your safety net against accidental changes or edits you want to undo.

How Version History Works

  • Auto-saves: Leadpages automatically creates version snapshots as you work. After approximately every 40 auto-saves, a checkpoint is created.
  • Manual saves: You can save a labeled version at any time — useful before making big changes.
  • AI edits: A version is automatically saved before the AI makes changes, so you can always go back.

Saving a Version

  1. Open your page in the editor.
  2. Click the menu icon (top-left) and select Version History.
  3. Click the + button to save the current state.
  4. Optionally add a label (e.g., "Before redesign" or "Final version for client review").
  5. Click Save.

Previewing a Version

  1. Open Version History from the menu.
  2. Click any version in the list to preview it.
  3. The preview opens in a dialog where you can switch between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile views.
  4. Close the preview to return to your current version without making changes.

Restoring a Version

  1. Open Version History and find the version you want to restore.
  2. Click Restore on that version.
  3. Confirm the restore. Your current page is automatically saved as a new version before the restore, so you can always get back to it.
  4. The page content is replaced with the restored version. You may need to re-publish to push changes live.

Deleting a Version

To free up space, you can delete individual versions you no longer need. Click the trash icon next to any version. Deleted versions cannot be recovered.

Important Notes

  • There is a limit on the total number of versions stored per page. When the limit is reached, the oldest auto-saved versions are removed to make room for new ones. Manual saves are preserved.
  • Version history tracks the content of your page (HTML). Page settings (slug, SEO, password) are not versioned.
  • Deleting a page removes all its versions permanently.
