Manage your widget language settings

Last Updated

For widgets within the builder that don't allow for you to edit text (i.e. countdown timers, checkout shipping fields), you can set a default language for them within your Leadpages account settings. You also have the option to change your widget language within each asset, in case you need a different widget language for the various assets you create. Here's the place to learn all about these settings and what changes when editing widget language.

The fine print

  • The widget language settings apply solely to widgets with non-editable text, such as countdown timer labels, checkout widget shipping fields, progress bars, and more. Widgets with editable text, such as the text widget, are customizable in whichever language you choose to type.
  • Widget language can be set at the account level (for all assets you create) or asset level (within each page, site, pop-up or alert bar's settings).
  • There are currently six languages offered for widget language settings (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian).
  • This will not override any language preferences visitors may have defined in their browser settings.

Set your default widget language

If you will be creating all or most of your assets in a language other than English, setting your default widget language within your Leadpages account settings is a timesaver.

NOTE: New and current assets will reflect this change the next time you edit them, and can have their own widget language set within the builder if needed.

Step-by-step

  1. Click your account name at the top-left corner of your Leadpages account navigation menu.
  2. Select Account Settings.
  3. Click Edit under "Page Customization" and next to "Widget Language."
  4. Select a language from the list and click Save.language_accountsettings.jpg

Set widget language for a single asset

You can change the widget language for a single page, pop-up, site or alert bar from within its builder settings. This way, not all of your assets need to have the same widget language.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the builder for the asset you would like to change widget language.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Language tab.
  4. Select a language from the list and click Save.language_buildersettings.jpg

Frequently asked questions

Is there a way to provide translated versions of my page based on what visitors select?

Not at this time. However, there are a few other options.

First off, most browsers of today offer a translation feature. Therefore, if your visitor lands on your page and they have their browser set to a language different from the one you published it in, their browser may automatically translate it for them.

You could also duplicate your asset and create separate language versions and then link to those versions at the top of the page or site.
