What’s New Getting Started Building Integrating Publishing

The custom form widget

Last Updated

Collect the information you need by adding a form directly to your page or pop-up using the custom form widget. With this form you can customize your fields, filter spam opt-ins, and set up a follow-up action for those that subscribe like a thank you page.

The fine print

  • Select from a set of default fields including email, short text, phone, and consent. More to come!
  • Integrations are not yet available for custom forms. Leads can be exported to CSV from your Leads library.

Customizing fields

Add or remove fields

The custom form widget will have an email field by default. You can set it up with other fields as needed.

To delete a field, click the trash can icon. When you see a lock icon, your field is marked as required. You’ll need to make the field optional to delete it.

WARNING: As a security measure, Leadpages does not allow "password" or "passcode" fields. If these fields are present, you will not be able to update/publish your page.

Customize field settings

You can customize your fields within our builder in many ways, including:

  • changing a field’s label and placeholder text
  • setting a default value for a field
  • setting a URL variable for a field
  • making a field required/not required
  • hiding a field
  • adding helper text to your field
  • adjusting field options within dropdown, radio, or checkbox fields

To access these settings, click the name of the field you’d like to change. Any settings for it will appear in the left-hand sidebar. When you’re finished adjusting the field, be sure to click SAVE.

Hidden fields & pre-population

Hidden fields allow you to pass data invisibly through your form (such as UTM values or campaign identifiers). You can pre-populate hidden or visible fields using URL parameters with the URL Mapping option.

Reordering fields

To reorder your fields, click and drag the six-dot icon next to each field to move it up or down in the form layout.

Set follow-up actions (i.e. thank you page)

Under ACTIONS you can choose where you'd like to send your visitors after they opt in to your form widget. We have a resource for this actions here: Create a thank you page

Style your form

Under the STYLES tab, you can adjust your form’s appearance to match your brand.

  • Choose your font family and size
  • Customize label, input, dropdown, help text, and description styles
  • Adjust text, border, and background colors (including hover/focus states)
  • Set unique styles for validation errors (e.g. red borders on invalid input)

Tip: Use high contrast colors and clear labels to improve form accessibility.

Final settings and spam protection

In the SETTINGS tab, you can:

  • Name your form for internal tracking purposes
  • Enable Google reCAPTCHA v2 to protect against spam

To use reCAPTCHA:

  1. Visit the Google reCAPTCHA admin console
  2. Add your Leadpages domain (e.g. yourpage.lpagestest.co)
  3. Copy your Site Key and Secret Key into the provided fields
